Summertime is finally here! We made it and accomplished so much in reading this year. Let’s keep it up this summer and make a SPLASH INTO READING!
In order to prevent our reading levels from floating backwards, NJES is challenging ALL students to READ, READ, READ throughout the summer! We want students to read at least 1,000 minutes* during our summer break. (25 minutes, 5 days a week reading, or however you would like to fit it into your schedule)
Download your “SPLASH TRACKER” and color in a wave each time you read 25 minutes. To keep our goals in sight, visit this website to enter the total number of minutes that you read during the month of June. Times can be submitted during the week of July 1-6. We will post the total number of minutes read and update you on our top readers and top grade levels on Facebook and Twitter. Then keep reading throughout July to meet OR exceed your 1,000 minute mark!
In August, you will need to have a parent sign your Splash Tracker, and bring it back to school to turn in to your new teacher. All students who meet the challenge will be recognized in our first annual celebration! This challenge is a wonderful way to keep your mind strong all summer long! Will you make a SPLASH INTO READING?
Good Luck,
NJES Teachers
*Students who need reading support can have books read to them for their 1,000 minutes of reading.
